Monitor an AO Channel using Traditional DAQ

I would like to monitor one of the AO channels using Traditional DAQ. With DAQmx, one can specify an AO channel to be read (e.g. Dev1/_ao0_vs_aognd). Can one do the same thing using Traditional DAQ without physically wiring an output channel to an input channel? Not sure if this should be in the Multifunction DAQ board, but I am programming in LabView.
