Motor Control with frequency inverter

I am pretty new to programming controls with LabVIEW. I am trying to control a step motor over a Toshiba VF-S15 frequency inverter and an RS485. Do I need a Modbus for that? What components do I need in my program to be able to do that? 

I am working with the 2018 version of labVIEW.

The manual of your inverter will give you the answer!

Does the inverter support Modbus? Does it support other protocols? Which one is easier to implement for you?

(There are Modbus libraries available, see VIPM for them.)
