My DAQ devices are not recognized in NI DAQmx (base)

Hello,

I am using a Macbook to read data from my DAQ devices and produce a signal through them. My two DAQ devices are MyDAQ and cDAQ-9178. I have LabVIEW installed as well as NI myDAQ-base, NI VISA and NI 488.2 all installed in my device.

I can see the DAQ devices in MAX but I cannot create test tasks for them. I also cannot choose any of the DAQ devices channels in LabVIEW's Create channel vi

I attached what I see on my MAX and the LabVIEW pictures.

Thank you for the help

Hello!

This problem usually indicates an issue with your DAQmx driver. Please make sure you're following the steps located here for the myDAQ:

Getting Started With NI-DAQmx for myDAQ on Mac OS X

and here for the cDAQ:

Thank you for the tips

I downloaded NI DAQmx but it says it is unsupported by the latest version of Mac OS which I run. I installed it anyway but it did not show in LabVIEW. Only NI DAQmx-base is there ...

I still cannot access MyDAQ even though I can now see it in my system preferences which tells me the tip did something.

About the cDAQ, there is no link for this series in that link ...

My apologies for the confusion. That page actually lists contains info on all the supported devices and it does not appear that cDAQ is supported currently in DAQmx Base. You can also check the readme of the DAQmx base driver to see a list of supported devices.

DAQmx-base is the correct version of NI-DAQmx on Mac OS. I would recommend using the steps on this page to narrow down the issue you are experiencing with the myDAQ:

NI myDAQ Troubleshooting Utility (Edit: This utility is for Windows OS only.)

Update: It looks like that utility actually only has support on Windows systems so I've got a few next troubleshooting steps for you:

1. Try performing a full uninstall/reinstall of the NI-DAQmx Base driver.

2. Has the myDAQ worked correctly in the past/on any other system? If you have a Windows system to troubleshoot on, you could use the previously mentioned utility to very the device is working properly.

3. Newer versions of Mac OS are not officially supported so there could be an issue with the current version you are running. Is there any way you might be able to downgrade or OS version or try partitioning your hard drive to see if the issue is still occurring?

Thank you for all your responses.

The DAQ devices I have were all tested on a Windows PC before. However, I intended to use them using my Macbook while traveling which caused all these issues.

At the moment, I do not have access to a Windows PC but I am sure the devices are fully operational.

I have reinstalled NI DAQmx-base but nothing changed so far ... Partitioning also did not seem to solve the issue.

Downgrading my OS may work but I would rather not go through that as it will definitely cause me issues with my other software ...

Thanks for the updates. Since the device has been working previously before, it definitely sounds like the issue lies somewhere in the software. Since the version of Mac OS you are running is not officially supported, there is no guarantee that you will be able to get your current software setup working. This page has some other options you could consider:
