Bipin,

Thanks for posting. From reading your post, I don't have enough details to state definitively what might be happening with you cRIO - 9002 system. Could you please post some additional details about your situation. Some information that would be useful would include:

-Is the status light flashing on the controller? If so, how many times?
-Is the power light on on the controller?
-Can you see the cRIO system under Remote Systems in Measurement and Automation Explorer? Is there a 0.0.0.0 system in MAX?
-Can you connect to the system through a crossover cable?
-Was the system working originally? Did something change when it stopped working?

With those type of details, I think that this forum would be better equipped to help you resolve your cRIO issue.

Hi Jed,

Sorry for not providing all the details earlier,

The crio module was working ( being detected in max) And i had built(simple acquisition code), downloaded and run FPGA code to 9103 4 slot chassis from embedded project manager. Also the Host(Labview-RT) code was developed and was running. The problem initialy was that the rt program used to stop after running for 4-5 sec. I was trying to detect the problem there is no error from fpga code which i was monitoring in the rt code inspite of this the rt code used to stop.

In the process of detecting the problem i tried to uninstall all the software from the crio using MAx and installed the software again. after some time i noticed that a red cross mark has appeared against the crio. I tried restarting the crio, restarted PC, put the crio in safe mode tried to reset the ip address nothing worked. Atlast i deleted the crio with red cross from the max. But after this excercise the module became not detectable in MAX.

I noticed that the power led glows, backup led glows, but the status led does not glow even if you reset, put the crio in safe mode. I had connected the crio using crosscable and also used straight cable through hub the result is the same.

I had another c-rio rt module which i connected later and that was working to say that the softwares installed in my host pc was ok. Now with these information i feel you will be able to suggest a solution.

Best Regards,

Bipin

Hi Bipin,

Looks like trouble.

Try using a null-modem serial connection to your PC and turn the Console Out DIP switch to on. Use Hyperterminal on windows (9600,8,n,1) to monitor the line. During the boot cycle you should see information about the BIOS, boot status, etc.

What do you see?

Hi Chris,

The serial communication is not happening at all. The modules are not with me so i could not check serial communication it is with NI India that is trying to solve the problem. I told them about your suggestion but they told me that the module is not even getting detect for starting serial communication.

It would be nice If you can co-ordinate with NI India Technical support and solve the problem if it is solvable rather than shipping the module all the way to US for repair(RMA). The contact person at Ni India are Mr. Ananth, Mr. Sidharth.

Thanks in advance,

Bipin

Bipin,

It's best to use the process already in place to make the determination if RMA is necessary. I'm just suggesting a troubleshooting technique.

I have the same problem like you in my cRIO 9002. It worked well yesterday but today max isn't able to detect the module. I have tried to solve this problem in several ways (change IP, reset module, re-installing software..)but it's impossible.
Somebody knows the solution to this problem?
thank you.

Just to get specific information... If MAX doesn't detect it then how are you changing IP and reinstalling software?

Click right button of the mouse and then Change IP Offline.

I have advanced one step: in Safe Mode, MAX detects the module but when I try to expand the tree of Devices and Interfaces, appears the text VISA Error. When I expand the tree of Software all is right.
Where is the problem?
