[not sure which board is for NI-DAQmx questions ...]
When installing NIDAQ880f2.exe on 64bit Vista, I get a failure:
"The NI-APAL Error Files 1.2.0f0 installation has failed with the following error.
Internal Error 2202, C:\Windows\Installer\c0702.msi, -2147287035
Continue?"
If I continue the install there are no other failures (except for the "Your install failed .." message at the end). However, when running my NI-DAQmx program I get an NI-DAQmx "internal error". The same software worked last week on a Windows XP machine (with "recent" NI-DAQmx). In both cases I'm using two *simulated 6536's.

Hey Steve,
It sounds like you might not be running this installation as the administrator. Please take a look at this KB titled Installer Error 2203 with National Instruments Software . Let me know if you are still having questions after going through this KB. Also, to make sure you have proper permissions when installing the driver, you'll need to right click on the .exe and choose to run as administrator. Have a great weekend!!

I am using a single, administrator-privilaged account. The machine is brand new with an OS install a couple weeks ago (and updates applied since then), so I doubt the OS is corrupt. I had not previously installed NI.
Any other ideas? Should I try a different install package?

Hey Steve,
Just to double check- did you copy the CD contents to your hard drive? Also, there's a difference between having administrator priviledges and running a program as the administrator. You'll want to right click on the executable and choose to "Run as...", then select the option to be administrator. You can also reference this Microsoft TechNet article on how to do this. Otherwise, as an absolute last resort you may need to use MSI blast- but lets try that after everything else. Thanks!

Thanks for the replys but Run-as admin had the same problem.
I got further with installing an older version 8.7.2(?) - still a failure on install but by NIDAQmx program ran.
Again, my system is pretty new and clean (except for all these NI reinstalls 😃 so I wouldn't suspect corruption (but who knows..). I'm not going to run any MSI cleaner on this system, however; my NI work is low priority.

Can you post a list of everything you are trying to install? As well, can you please post a Measurement and Automation Explorer technical report ( within MAX go to File»Create Report»Technical Report). From the errors you posted it looks like you were trying to install a version of the LV Run Time Engine that is not compatible with VIsta. Because of this, we may need to use some sort of Vista clean up utility. You can find more information about our compatibility with Vista at ni.com/vista . Have a good one!

Sorry, but I'm not going to read through three links and four white papers to figure out how to install your software on Vista.
I ran extra uninstalls and installs of the NI software (which take an incredibly long time - just for the NIDAQ layer!) to give you more diagnostic information and can't afford to devote more time to this. BTW, I ran msiBlast and it found no leftover bits of NI stuff between installs ..

Hi Steve,
Many appologies for the frustration you've had from this! It's understandable you don't have extra time to work on this- if you feel like coming back to the issue, I would love to help troubleshoot this further. My hunch is that you've installed something that isn't compatible with Vista, and it's messed up the rest of your installations (my suspicion is the LV Run-time engine version you installed caused this error). If you do find the time to re-install, please make sure the software you are putting on your system is on this Vista Compatibily List. Good luck with your programming!
