NI-MAX problem with Windows Server 2003

I upgraded a computer from Windows 2000 to Windows Server 2003.  I then reinstalled the NI software on that machine.  This has led to many problems.  I have a GPIB board and two NI-6602 counter/timer boards installed in this machine.  The GPIB board passes the tests in the NI-488.2 troubleshooting wizard, but none of the installed boards appear in the device list in NI-MAX.  If I attempt to create a device in MAX, the "Create New" window appears, but the only button that is active is the "Cancel" button.  Also,  MAX runs very slow and does not appear in the Start Menu, although the other NI software does.  None of the NI software appears in the Software listing in MAX, either.  I have tried reinstalling the NI applications, but this does not appear to have been successful.  Are there compatiblity issues with Windows Server 2003?

Hello Double_D,

Unfortunately, Windows Server 2003 is not officially supported by our software and has not been thoroughly tested.  You can find supported operating systems listed in the readme for the software that you are using.  If you are using an older NI-DAQ driver, you might try upgrading it to get a newer version of MAX.  You can see the latest DAQ drivers here.  The NI 6602 can be used with NI-DAQmx so I would recommend trying to use that driver instead of Traditional NI-DAQ.

Wish I could be of more help,

Laura
