NI OPC Server - licence problem

Hi,

 

I've a problem with the NI OPC Server. When using other opc clients (C++ embedded, Rockwell, Kepware, Softing...) then the shared Variable Engine OPC client or the OPC Quick Client which is installed via the NI OPC Server I got an error that there is no licence to connect to the server (error code 0x80040112). I've attached a screenshot with the message.

 

We have licenced the NI OPC Server - why we have to licence also the client part?

OPC Servers can only connect to a limited numbers of clients from NI, as stated in KB: How Is NI OPC Servers Licensed?

Hello,

is this restrictation realy desired? When we buy an opc server we want to be able to connect from every client. This limitation is really frightening.

What can be done now?
