NI Service Manager Always loads at Startup

I'm using LV 7.0 Express (newbie). Every time I boot now, a TSR called "NI
Service Manager" loads and presents an Icon in the system tray. When I'm
not doing LabView, I right click, and select "Quit Service Manager". Do I
need this service manager for GPIB functions with LV?

Can I set it up so NI Service Manager only loads when I'm doing LV? Thanks!

I am not using any of the NI Services, so I just deleted the Service Manager from the "Start Menu\Programs\Startup" folder.

Please refer to this KnowledgeBase document for more information about disabling the NI Service Locator and what will happen if you do so: What Network Activity is LabVIEW Performing at Startup?

For example, you will not be able to click buttons in the LabVIEW Help to place VIs, functions, and constants on the block diagram. Also, you will not be able to open VIs from the NI Example Finder.
