NI USB-TC01 and LabVIEW 2012

I have a USB-TC01 thermocouple input device.  I'm running LabVIEW 2012 and MAX 5.3.1f0.  When I try to communicate with it in MAX, I  receive the following error:

The driver failed to communicate with Dev2, producing the following message:

Error - 201165 occurred at Self-Test

Possible reasons (s):

Firmware for this device is too new.

Downgrade the firmware for this device.  If you need help downgrading, visit ni.com/support.

Has anyone downgraded the firmware for this device to use with older LabVIEW versions?

Possibly upgrade DAQmx to 14.5?
