NI policy on updating software?

What is NI's official policy on software updates? I just installed LabVIEW 6.1 with it's included utilities, most of which now have updates (NI-DAQ 7.0, IVI 2.0, IMAQ 3.0, et c.).

I don't know of anything I need these updates for (I don't think). Is it NI's policy that I should update whenever a new version comes out, or stick with what I have until I need it?

I am not sure if there is an official policy, however I have always subscribed to the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy. At the same time there are perfomance improvements and added features with the newer version so you are kind of in a bind. If you feel like what you have is working and you do not want any of the new features, then stick with what you have. However if you are running into problems upgrade.

Generally it's a good idea to update the driver software when new versions
come out, just like it's a good idea to install Windows critical updates
when they come out. Why wait till something breaks?
