NI5402 + analog waveform editor

I bought a PXI function generator from national instruments, the NI5402, and I would like to develop a custom waveform using Analog waveform editor. At pag 20 of "NI Signal Generators Getting Started Guide" is written that I should be able to activate this software using the serial board number. I do not undestand at all where I should insert this serial number and from where I should launch it.
Can somebody give me an advice?
thanks

Hi Giovanni Balbinot,

I would like to know which kind of OS and which version of "Analog waveform editor" you are using. Did you have any issue during the software installation? The serial number is given in the kit with your hardware device. Otherwise, You can find it on the board; it's a little white identification tag. Can you tell me what is happening when you try to launch the software?

Regards,

Dear Jérémy Marliot
thank you for your reply. Maybe I did not explained myself very well: I have the function generator PXI NI 5402 and I installed it on my PXI chassis usign the two CD roms given with the card. In my mind now I should be able to use this function generator and create custom waveforms because, according to the gettin started guide, this Analog waveform Editor is given with the software but I do not find it anywhere. Maybe I can download it from NI web site, using this serial number, but I cannot find if it is avalaible from there or not. My problem is that I do not have this Editor. Can you help me?
the control system installed in the PXI cpu is windows XP pro 2002 sp2.
best

Dear Giovanni Balbinot,

Sorry for the misunderstanding. The two CD's you have should be for NI-FGEN installation. You can see on the "NI Signal Generators Getting Started Guide" on page 4 that "NI Analog Waveform Editor" is only available for NI 54012/5421/5422/5441 and 5442 cards. You can contact sales peronel to have more informations on how to get the Analog Waveforms Editor.

Dear Jérémy Marliot,
sorry but I don't understand. Let's suppose that I buy this editor, does the 5402 support it? according to pag 4 it seems that it doesn't and I should use anothe function generator.
Please let me know.

Dear Giovanni Balbinot,

I think that the Analog Waveforms Editor is supported but to ensure that there no matter to use it and in the case that NI-FGEN would not afford what you want to do, I advise you to contact your Ni sales service that will give your more informations.
