NOD32 Antivirus causes "Downloading Panel 0% of 0 bytes/Remote Panel Connection is closed"

Hi, everyone!

I just found out the web access protection of my Antivirus (NOD32) prevents access to LabView remote panels.
I tried both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Thunderbird on WindowsXP with firewall on and in both cases it displays the message:
"Downloading Panel 0% of 0 bytes/Remote Panel Connection is closed".

So the windows firewall is not the problem. Some of you experiencing this same behaviour should check your antivirus protection, too.

Does any one know what might be the incompatibility issues of LV remote panels with antivirus software?

Thanks in advance for any replies
Regards
Miguel

Hi Miguel,

It seems you're not the first one experiencing this kind of troubles, typically due to firewall configuration.
First of all I suggest you to disable any firewall on you computer and run your VI. It should work fine.

Then reactivate it but make sure the ports used by LabVIEW are opened in your firewall. You can find here the list of these ports:

http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/FE6A63983AC8289E86256B22005A067A?OpenDocument

If it still doesn't make it please give me more details concerning your OS and your LabVIEW version.

Hope this helps,

Matthieu,

Thank you for your reply. But the behaviour is due to the antivirus, not the firewall. Nevertheless, it must be the same kind of problem.

I do not need to deactivate the firewall, because it was opened for LabVIEW when I installed it.
When I deactivate the antivirus everything works, but that way I open a potential security vulnerability.

My question was, how to configure the adequate parameters in the antivirus to allow LabVIEW to communicate, without having to deactivate it. Should I exclude LabVIEW from content filtering by the antivirus sw?

My OS is Windows XP (SP2), LabVIEW 8.5 and antivirus ESET Nod32.

Miguel,

The behaviour you describe
doesn't sound related to NI or Labview. The link I gave you concerning the ports used by LabView is in general the key to solve the firewall issues. If in your case you are convinced it is due to Nod 32 AV the best thing to do is to check this AV's documentation to identify potential issues. You can also try to contact Nod32 support to have more details.

Whatever, did you try to install another antivirus ? What happen then ?
Are you sure Nod32 Antivirus interface doesn't provide some hidden firewall features ?

Depending on the flavour of NOD32 you have installed, it may or may not also have a firewall/internet security/spyware protection along with it.

As already suggested, look through your NOD settings, you may find that you have to allow the NI ports in your AV as well..

By the way, love your choice of AV program!

Good luck!

Same here, ESET NOD 32 ver 3.0 gives the problem, turning it off completely solves it. I'll come back if we find out how to change settings in Nod 32.

The problems comes from the "web access protection" part of NOD32, turning that part off solves the problem. As an alternative you can add the web pages you need to access in "web access protection/HTTP/Excluded", I found that only an ip adress is not enough, instead use wildcard like "1.2.3.4*" or the full path "server.mycomp.se/my_labview_app.html".

Hello!

Having the same problem with Kaspersky Internet Security 2011.

Disabling web-antivirus module (not firewall module!) is a solution.

So, it just needs to be configured correctly. Unfortunatly I've failed to find out what web-antivirus module option exactly shoud be configured...

I had that problem, and the solution was to change the HTTP port from 80 to 8000, and thats it, then you just need to add the :8000 after the ip like 192.168.1.1:8000/index.html
