National Instruments Field Point

Hello guys!, my school have the following  Field point modules :

          FP-1000 (RS232) 

          FP-3000 (field bus)

          FP-1601 (ETHERNET) 

          FP-DI-301

          FP-DO-4011

          FP-AI-110

          FP-AO-200

I have some experience with Labview but I dont know anythig about these modules or field point.

Do you know  where can I find a basic tutorial or some information to learn what is the field point tecnology? and How it works?

I only know of the standard stuff on FieldPoint from NI.  The Quickstart Guide is good for wiring, and there is HELP>FieldPOINT in LabVIEW itself (you need to make sure the FieldPOINT software option is installed on your computer as it isn't in the default installation of LabVIEW).

After connecting you FP-1000 to an RS-232 COM Port, the next step is to open a new LabVIEW Project and Add New "Targets and Devices...":

From there you can get to the configuration screen:

 BTW, after the initial learning hurdle, FieldPOINT is very easy to use.

Well I have this problem....

my laptop doesn't have the  serial port

Get a USB-RS232 converter.    There cheap and (usually) easy (an example).
