***Need VI: NI-TIO Triggers E-Series DAQ via RTSI

Can anybody recommend some VI's that show how an NI-TIO based
counter/timer card (6602) can be used to trigger the acquistitinn of a
waveform (Voltage)by an E-Series DAQ card using the RTSI bus? I am
reporting the position of a shaft using a quadrature encoder, this
inputs to the 6602.

Every 0.05 degrees I need to read two analog channels of the E-Series
card.

Finally I need the angle stamp and the two voltage readings placed
into an array and sent to the hard drive.

I am new to this so be gentle.

Thanks,

Mike Ross

Hi Mike,

Could you post this question to the Hardware > Counter/Timer or Hardware > Multifunction I/O forums? I think you will get more responses there. Here is a link.

The hardware is usually a better differentiation since software can support such a huge range of functionality.

You could combine two example programs (or just run them separately to test it).
*Generate Pulse Train (NI-TIO) - use your encoder output on the PFI line
*Acquire N Scans - ExtScanClk - either route the signal out over RTSI from the previous program and route in over RTSI in this program, or just wire from the counter output to the PFI of the ex
ternal scan clock.

Hope this helps. Other people might have more suggestions in the hardware area. I would suggest cutting and pasting the whole of our discussion here to give them some context.

John,

Thanks very much. I did not know about the hardware forum. I looks
like they are talking about my stuff there.
