New Thread for Conversion of LabVIEW 5.1 code to 8.5

Hi 7nitride9,

I converted those three files to version 8.2.  ISA command driver.vi needed "Level_0_Parse_Params.vi" and "Command Set Database.gbl."  I didn't see files with those exact names, so I loaded "CCD Level_0_Parse_Params.vi" and "CCD Command Set Database.gbl" instead.

Hope these work for you!

I tried to read a 6.1 into 8.5.1 and LabView crashes.  I get the following message with the debugger:

Unhandled exception at 0x007513e0 in LabVIEW.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000000.

I could understand some sort of pop-up warning me of a problem but it just crashes.   Do I really need to port to each newer version to get it to the latest?  Please say it isn't true!!

Interesting is further checking, some files made with the same 6.1 version will load directly with 8.5.1.  Crazy tools.

Hi lecroy,

You should be able to open VIs directly in LabVIEW 8.5.1 as long as they were saved in version 6.0 or later.  Any known upgrade and compatibility issues can be found in the LabVIEW Upgrade Notes

Feel free to post the VIs from 6.1 that crashed LabVIEW to see if converting them to an intermediate version of LabVIEW helps.

I have a very limited knowledge of Labview and our plant has upgraded our 5.1.1 labview to 8.5

Of course the vi's are too old so they wont even load.

I have attached the vi's in a zip for conversion, any help is greatly appreciated.
