No option to simulate cRIO device after installing Labview and RT/FPGA Modules from downloads (missing driver support?)

Solved!
Go to solution

Well, heck.  No change after the reinstall.  Just to be clear, what i did was the following:

Uninstalled:

NI-CompactRIO 3.5.1

NI-CompactRIO Module Support 3.5.1

NI-RIO 3.5.1

NI-RIO 3.5.1 driver for Teal-Time Embedded Targets

NI R Series 3.5.0

Then, I executed autorun.exe within the NIRIO351 folder (downloaded), and took the default install options.  After installation and restart, I opened up a new project and tried to add a new target.  I got the same options as shown in the original post.

I also verified that I do have both the Real-Time and FPGA modules installed, and they do show up on the "About Labview" screen.

I could go for a clean sweep and uninstall/reinstall all NI software, if there's any chance that might do any good (is there any chance that would do any good?).

Any thoughts?

What version of LabVIEW do you have on your machine? I am assuming it's 2011? The latest version of the NI-RIO driver is 4.0 which supports that version of LabVIEW. Please do verify whether 3.5.1 is supporting whatever version of LabVIEW you have on your machine.

Adnan--

Yep, realized that issue last night, and was able to get it working on another machine.  I'm going to upgrade to NI-RIO 4.0 on the computer here in the lab, and will post the results as soon as I'm done.  Pretty sure we've got this one licked.

That was it.  I'm up and running now.  Couldn't tell you how I managed to download the wrong version in the first place...probably a caffeine-related issue.

Thanks Adnan for your help.  I'm off to write some code now.
