Ocean Optics PC-2000 Spectrometer

I have a slave OO PC-2000 that is useless to me because I do not have
the ADC board that is used with it. Anyone know a Labview work around
that might allow me to output the spectrometer data without the ADC
board? Might be a really stupid question on my part, but any
suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Hi Henry!

LabVIEW may be able to talk to the instrument depending on the bus used for communication
, such as RS-232 (serial) or USB. I searched OO's website, but did not find much on the PC-2000 specifically, so it's hard to say what you have.

One way the manufacturer might provide connectivity is by using a driver. In this case, the manufacturer provides you with a library of functions that reflects the functionality of the device.  NI's website has a bunch of instrument drivers available at ni.com/idnet, including those for Ocean Optics.  If the one you need is not available here, you may need to contact the manufacturer directly.

If you would like more information on communicating with the device using these methods, you may have more luck posting on the Instrument Control forum.

Thanks. I'll see what else I can find. Unfortunately, I'm quite in the
dark about how these things work.
