Odd DAQmx behavior with PCI-6036E

I have 3 machines setup with a PCI-6036E and a PCI-6703 DAQ Cards. one is my Dev system Win XP, LV8.0.1 the other 2 are target machines, both Win2K

I am using an Analog Output Channel on the 6036E to output a square wave. On my Dev machine the code works fine, both the VI and the built App. when I deploy it on the Target machine is where the problem happens. Basically I have the code Written for the DAQmx to set-up and run a Square wave on the output, I then prompt the user to verify status of a LED, then stop stop the output. For some reason on the target machine, the Square wave starts then stops ( when watching it with an Oscope. if I run the test on my Dev Machine, it works. I have not been able to try my 3rd machine yet as it is in use at the moment. Any suggestions on what to look at? anything possibly in the DAQmx vis that could be causing my problem?

Thanks

Hi Jeff,

There are a few things that I think would be useful to check into:

How many pulses are outputted before the generation stops?  Does this happen at the same point no matter how many pulses or what type of waveform you output?  Do you have a graph indicator showing you the waveform being created in the software, so you can be sure nothing is going wrong there?  Can you put this particular device in your development computer to see if it is working correctly?

Hopefully, if you can test these things, you should be able to determine if it is a problem with the hardware or with the software installation on that deployment machine.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks!

Laura

Hi Laura,

Well, here is what I did initially, I used a Oscope on the output of the card to verify it was getting something, Both my other systems worked, I was going to swap out the card, but then I re-booted the PC and it worked fine. Oddly enough my Dev Machine had a similar problem with my other card 6703, it stopped working all together and seemed to be locked up. I re-booted my dev machine and all was well again. Next time it occurs I will investigate for the info you suggested above, THANKS
