What sort of flow rates, or pipe diameter? How flammable? How fast does the response need to be, and how accurate? At a previous job, we used needle valves fitted with stepper motor actuators to control the gasoline, ethanol and other liquid fuels. They were accurate but respond very slowly. We later replaced them with automotive fuel injectors, which work very well for regulating low flows and have very fast response, but require more electronics.
