Opinions on Labview vs Genie

We are just embarking on some testing and wondering if anyone has
experience with Genie V3.0 and how it rates with Labview.

Hello everybody! Maybe this is the wrong topic, but its the only one I could find where Genie is even mentioned so I thought I put my problem in here then somewhere else... I have the following problem.... We have a ginie 2000 System that works great. We use an old samplechanger system that relies upon relays which are starting to act strange and unpredictable. So we dicided to get rid of the relays instead using a Labview environment to control the actuators. So I need some advice how to implement the genie 2000 system into Labview, meaning that labview should tell Genie when to start a measurement and genie to send the information that it has finished the measurement back. An API would be useful, but as I understood it there is no such thing or something compareable to use in Labview... Please Help!!! Does anyone have a suggestion or maybe have already solved a similar problem? Sincerly, PhysikerMM

If I understand correctly, Genie (or now VisiDAQ) is an application which communicates with their DAQ card.

Which of their DAQ card do you have?  Maybe there is a driver for the DAQ card.  You will not find a driver or API for their software.  If you already have their software, then why not use it?  (although I'm sure it does not do anything even close to what LabVIEW can do).

Ahhh, I see, then this is indeed the wrong topic.

Because the genie programm I was talking about is Genie 2000 V3.21 and was published by Canberra...

So my fault!!!

But you have given me a hint how to solve the problem, maybe there is a driver I can use for their DAQ card. Thank you!!

After more than a decade it often is the wrong topic.  Sometimes, a few people who posted to a old topic read the update summaries and choose to view> new replies.  It is usually better to post a new thread if the original discussion ended more than 1 week ago (but, do include a link to the original thread if it helps frame your question!)

Frankly, the only thing that got my attention was the OP's name-  A former Irish-by-marriage mother-in-law of mine had the unfortunate nickname of "Patty-O" (Pretty impressive, She has a line of furniture named after her)
