PCI to UART

Hello,

I will be using Oxford Semiconductor chip  OX16PCI952 ( PCI to UART ) for a project.  Oxford will provide the drivers for the chip, so I guess it will be recognised by Windows, and pop up in the device manager  tab under control panel. I am wondering if I can see these COM ports in Labview, if I run one of the example VIs provided ( basic_serial.VI)

Thank you

If the device shows up as a Com port in Windows, then there is no reason why Labview won't recognize it as a Com port as well.

Hi BIRA_PXI,

You will need to have NI-VISA installed to communicate with a serial port. Here is a link to download the latest version of NI-VISA, which is version 4.1. Let us know if you have any specific questions!

Regards,

Hi Missy D,

Thanks for youir reply. The Oxford Chip, has two UART channels, COM0 and COM1. I just need one for my application, and I wanted to mask the other one from showing in Labview, under the I/O resource name. For Example, when I insert the card with the oxford chip, it should just show COM0 or COM1 instead of BOTH COM0 and COM1. Is there any way in Labview that I can do this.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Bira_PXI.

May I know where do you reside?

Are you located in ASEAN region?

I'm looking for some information on Oxford...

Just to check, where do you obtain the device.

Hi OcenViper,

I am located in US. We usedTRGcomponents to source the chips. If you are not able to get Oxford, then try Moschip semiconductors. They are based in India.

Thanks,
