PID Toolkit which version? On OS X!

This is a bit confusing, but bear with me.... There were substantial changes to the PID toolkit from version 1.0 to 2.0. Not only performance but some errors were corrected.

Now when you get the PID toolkit for Mac OS X, you actually get a very old version 1.0. Actually it installs in classic Mac OS which is not even officially supported. This is true even with the LV 7.1 distribution. If you order the windows version, you get the new 2.0 and you just manually move all the VIs to the Mac and it all works.

NOW if you install LV-RT version 7.1 for Mac OS X it gives you a message that it is installing the PID toolkit. WHICH version of the PID toolkit is installed?

First of all, I will assume you meant "5.0" and "6.0" by saying "1.0" and "2.0".
The current version of the PID toolkit is version 6.0, and is available for Windows only.
Version 5.0 supported Mac Classic (not OS X).
If you are able to order the PID Toolkit for Mac, you will probably get version 5.0.
On the other hand LV RT 7.1 includes the PID Toolkit, and specifically, version 6.0.
So, purchasing LabVIEW RT for Mac OS X is the only way to get the latest PID Toolkit for Mac.

Yes, I believe your numbering is right. I remember a big splash when version 2.0 came out but nothing since then. In looking at the code in the most recent version, there are some changes and fixes so I assume this bumps the version number. Change logs are good. The version that is still being distributed as the "mac" version is the same as version 1.0 of the toolkit and never got the auto-tuning features etc? Anyway this is arcane history and sort of irrelevant.

1. There is no way to determine the version of a toolkit that is going to be installed. This is bad.

2. NI is still distributing a toolkit that requires Mac Classic to install. This is an OS that NI states is no longer supported. Doesn't this bother you?

Anyway, if LV RT distributes th
e same version of the toolkit as dragging the windows version around, then that makes life a little easier. I just pity the poor fools who don't have a site license and access to multiple platforms and toolkits.
