PXI RT controller hangs when other card installed

Hello,

I am trying to get an older PXI RT controller (PXI-8145RT) running again after some time on the shelf.  I've inherited this system and am fairly new to PXI so forgive me if I've missed something obvious.  I connected to the controller with MAX and updated the software to the 2014 version (was 8.6) and it seems happy.  However, when I install another card in the chassis the controller does not seem to boot.  Let me explain exactly what I observe:

when I power on the chassis with only the controller installed, I see the controller's lights come on, then the 'drive' LED flashes repeatedly as the controller presumably pulls the OS off the flash to boot, and then the system appears in MAX.

when I install another card in the chassis (specifically a PXI-8430/8, installed in a 'circle' slot) and power on, the lights come on but 'drive' only flashes for an instant, then nothing.  After this the controller does not appear in MAX and won't even respond to a ping.

I tried booting the controller with the 'noapp' switch set but the behavior did not change.

Is there some configuration jumper that could cause this to happen?  Are the two cards somehow incompatible?  Some guidance on how to track this down would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks,

bcl,

it sounds to me that the device (card) is creating the issue (broken?).

Did you check with different slots for that (broken?) device?

Did you check the PXI system using another (non-broken?) device?

How does another PXI system behave if you insert that (broken?) device there?
