PXI compatible with Labview 2018?

Hello together,

I recently had to reinstall all NI Software, so instead of Labview 2017 I now use Labview 2018. Apparently, the software on our PXI cannot be updated to match the host software however. Do I have to revert back to Labview 2017?

For example in MAX:

  • PXI:             Labview Real-Time 17.0.0
  • Host laptop: Labview Real-Time 18.0.0

PXI cannot be updated up to the same version.

Best wishes

Lysandros

Hi Lysandros,

Since you mention LabVIEW being installed on the PXI Chassis, I assume it has a controller on it? Are you using the LabVIEW 2017 development environment or run-time engine only the PXI chassis? If using the development environment, then you can back-save any code from 2018 to 2017. However, you could not create a LV 2017 executable. Back-saving will get old after a while, so I like to have all of our test stations on the same version of LabVIEW for a couple years, then upgrade everything to the latest or second-latest release at the same time. I'm not too familiar with LabVIEW RT, so I don't know if all of this is relevant.

Hello and thanks for the reply.

I formatted the host computer and installed again Labview 2017 and all the necessary modules/toookits 🙂

Best regards
