I am using labview 5.1 to program Profile's PAT9000 polarization analyzer
via GPIB. The PAT9000 is connected to a TLS via the same GPIB bus. For this
setup to work properly, GPIB system control should be passed to the PAT9000
as soon as a measurement command is sent from the computer. After operation
is complete, the PAT9000 passes control back to the PC. The problem is that
I have no way of determining when operation is complete. Polling the
PAT9000 will not work because that operation requires the computer to be
system controller. I welcome any suggestions especially from those who have
dealt with pass control issues or who have written control VIs for the
PAT9000.
