Path control's browse cancel buton return value

Oh thanks for the enlightenment, dan_u! May I know the logic behind this club, I mean what's wrong with express VIs (this question was posted from educational/learning point of view. It is not meant to criticize.)!

Thanks dan_u! That certainly was informative (kudos to you). But I realy needed the info about the other button press (the cancel button) as I need to clear the file path being displyed in the path control (if user had typed one in before he hit the browse button) if he had choosen to click the cancel button.

Yes I agree about the File Dialog Express VI. Mighty useful VI.

OK I see. Then the file dialog is the better (although more complicated) solution I guess.

 

Well the thing about express VIs has been discussed in several threads. It kind of allows to program without understanding what's going on, it's more configuring than programming. Also, express VIs are (in most cases) less efficient than programming the functionality according to your needs.

But as André said, there are a few useful express VIs. File Dialog is definitely one of them. And express VIs might come in handy to just do some quick testing.
