So far it works, and there are no errors... it could just be a little cleaner.

Just so I can clearly understand your problem, what variable would you like to share?
Are you trying to share the state of the system for example 'mixer tank step', 'product tank step', ... etc?

Correct thats what I'm trying to achieve alright, but I've hit a wall. I have uploaded an image of what it is I am trying to do with my project. The images are from a similar VI to the one I have designed. In the image on the left you may be able to make out the little triangles above and to the sides of the pipes and valves. On the right is a view of the block diagram. As you can see there are no visible wires on the block diagram. I think this means that the shared variables have been created successfully and data logging has also been configured correctly. So for me to be able to get a similar result to this I may have to rewrite my original code as Im pretty sure using local variables and the invoke node is not good for what it is Im trying to do. Again thanks again for your help so far and any further advice would be great.
