Pinewood Derby

Has anyone done a program for the finish line?
An elapsed time and winner?

Hello,

I just did a quick search of the Web for "Pinewood Derby" and found out that is has something to do with Cub Scouts. Why you posted this question to the National Instruments Developer Exchange, I may never know.

Obviosly Darren was never a cub scout...
still I would expect better of an NI AE.

I understand why you ask but I have not done such a program.

I assume you've searced this forum for "pinewood derby" and read the earlier exchange on that subject. (I can't figure out how to insert a link here.) But if not, you may want to get in touch with Norm Nelson. His Pinewood Derby wish list of a program was pretty ambitious. But if you only want a finish line program, it should be relatively easy to code in LabView and NOT require any special DAQ hardware by using either a serial port or printer port for your input and the port IO VI's to read the switch closures (optical, mechanical...) from those ports.

Good luck.

Hello Spaz,

You are right, I was never a cub scout. As for "expecting better", let's re-visit the initial post:

"Has anyone done a program for the finish line?
An elapsed time and winner?"

Since I was never a cub scout, since the post did not mention anything about LabVIEW, and since I am not as intimately familiar with the Developer Exchange threads as some people, I assumed that the post was either entirely misguided, or in desparate need of more information. My assumption was correct, and my post illicited more information (specifically, your post), so everybody wins. Isn't that spectacular?

Have a wonderful day,
