Please help. i am a PhD student and fairly unfamiliar with LabVIEW software. I am looking to analyse abrasive particles comparatively i.e. size, shape, surface area, behaviour when 'brushed' ect. I was told there is some LabVIEW software ('Vision System'?) that is suited for this. Is this suitable? How could i get hold of this (i think my university sufficient licensing)?
Thanks
Chris.

You can get an evaluation version here.

If you have the disks from the install it is incuded and all you have to do is load it depending on how old your LabVIEW is. A few years ago they started including all software on the DVD and then you just had to install and reister the software.

Thanks Corey this is very useful, however youll have to forgive my naivety - Is this a built in feature that i can access if i get a copy of LabVIEW from my uni? Does it require any additional hardware?
Cheers for getting back to me.

LabVIEW is a graphical programming language.
LabVIEW along with the "IMAQ Vision" toolkit, will allow you to write code to aquire the images and then analyze them.
However, you will need to purchase a camera as well as something to get the data from your camera to your computer (USB, serial, etc), probably USB.
Please look at the link I posted above at the very end of step 1 there is a link for choosing a camera.
That should help you in that area of the project.
In the Vision toolkit, there will be a library of functions to help you get started, but the code specific to your project will have to be written by you.
People in the forums are very knowledgeable and helpful, so feel free to ask for assistance in choosing a camera, hardware, or even when you get started working on your code.
