NI has a training class on instrument control and look at the Learn and Develop resources on the  Instrument Driver Network page.

HI, I am having query regarding; LabWindows/CVI: IVI Instrument Driver Development Course  LabVIEW: LabVIEW Instrument Control Course Day 1 coves subject like Communicating with Instruments This lesson describes how you can use LabVIEW tocommunicate with instruments. You will learn how touse NI-VISA, NI Spy, SCPI commands, and theInstrument I/O Assistant to perform instrument I/O. My question is to you,Does LabWindows/CVI: IVI Instrument Driver Development Course covers similar kind of training like Communication with Instruments? I am more interested in learning How to use SCPI commands to perform instrument I/O. Will you please guide me? So I can choose correct training course. Thanks & Regards,Jay +91 90110 62790EXFO Electro Optical Engineering India Pvt. Ltd.701, 7th floor The Ceribrum IT Park,Kalyani nagar. For a general SCPI explanation, you might want to read this. Details on a specific SCPI implementation are going to be in the instrument manual since each instrument is going to have a different set of commands. The SCPI Consortium is now part of the IVI Foundation apparently but I did not find any information there. If you are interested in implementing a SCPI syntax in an instrument, you might want to contact them for a specification.

Since SCPI is platform independent, it should not matter at all which class you take and I would image that the coverage of ScPI in either class would be relatively brief since it is very simple syntax.
