Pocket PC/PDA problems

Hi,
I'm struggling with Pocket PC/PDA problems, I am a beginner at this. I'm trying to run the
Waveform Graph-Pocket PC example that comes with LabVIEW 8.0. I have connected an RLC_XSCALE
Pocket PC device to my desktop computer via USB. I have Microsoft ActiveSync (3.8.0) running
on my desktop and it says "Connected". My mobile device shows up in Windows Explorer and I
can see its file contents. The mobile device itself runs correctly from its own screen. Up to
this point everything appears to be working.
Next, I start LabVIEW 8.0 and launch a blank vi. I then select Configure Pocket PC Devices
from the Tools menu. I click the Add Device button and rename it to RLC_XSCALE which is the
device name of the pocket pc hardware. I then click the Properties button and select
Microsoft ActiveSync for both the Transport and Startup Server configurations. I then click
the Test button. When I do this I get an "Unable to Connect" window that states "The
Microsoft ActiveSync reported the following error: Unable to load device side components.
Please check server configuration settings.
Perhaps someone could steer me in the right direction?

Dear Jim7215

The PDA toolkit is difficult to handle.
Try to use activesync 4.1 by USB and forbidd the Ethernet connection.
If you cant make a connection with the platform manager than there might be a network problem.
In some cases you need to install the MS loopback ethernet device or disable ethernet on your
target. We have some computers that work with activesync and ethernet and others don't. And there seams
to be no way to find out why.
The best way is to install evc 4, SP4 for evc, the platform sdk and try to make a connection with the platform
manager of evc before you install anything else. If this doesnt't work than you have to contact the device manufacturer
and find out how you can establish a connection. This way aroud he can't tell you its a NI problem while it isn't.
If it works than the PDA toolkit will work too.

But be aware the PDA toolkit is a step back into the early time of LabVIEW. Compiling a project may take
hours, depending on the project size and it is SLOOOOW too.

With kind regards
