Problem creating a simulated device in MAX

I get the following error message when I attempt to create a new NI DAQ-MX Simulated Device in MAX:

(In case the image doesn't upload correctly, it states:  Could not launch VI: modalVI2.cpp)

I'm using MAX Version 4.0.0.3010
and LabVIEW Version 8.0.1

I attempted the same task on our data collection pc, and got the same message.  Are simulated devices not supported in the latest release of labview?  How should I proceed?

Thanks,
    Jim

Jim,

DAQmx still supports simulated devices. Now does this happen in MAX right when you Right-Click the DAQmx Devices folder and choose “Create New NI-DAQmx Device >> NI-DAQmx Simulated Device”? You didn’t mention what version of the DAQmx drivers you have installed, but it looks like DAQmx 8.0. You may consider reinstalling the drivers, and since you are at that, go ahead and upgrade to DAQmx 8.1.

Let us know how that goes.

Hi Jim,

I've had this problem recently, it came down to the fact that I had to repair MAX and DAQMX.

The version of DAQmx I had was 8.0

The problem occurred when I clicked "Create New..." while the Devices and Interfaces category was selected.  The same results were produced from right-clicking the Devices and Interfaces category and selected "Create New..." from the dropdown list.

After installing the new DAQmx 8.1 driver and the MAX version 4.0.3.3003 that was bundled with it, the problem no longer occurs.  I am now able to create simulated DAQmx devices in MAX.

Thanks for the help!
