Problem setting data range to ignore

I have several numerical digital controls in LV6.1/DSC where I have set it to Ignore out of range data in the data range dialog box. I assumed this would cause it to "ignore" out of range values, but instead, they are accepted and processed as normal. What's going on?

"Ignore" sets a control to ignore the fact that the value is out of range ... you want to set them to "Coerce".
