Problem with DAQmx and LabVIEW 7.1

Initially, I installed DAQmx 8.8 and the DAQmx could appear in the NI measurements tab in LabVIEW 7.1

Later I bought a USB-6525 and installed the DAQmx 8.95 as it support function like change detection.

But, what happens was the DAQmx disappeared from the "NI measurements" tab.

Anyone can advise how I can do measurement with the USB-6525 from LabVIEW 7.1?

And I feel it's bad that before installation NI never warn user that installation of this "newer" DAQmx 8.95 would make the old DAQmx disappear!

The latest version that supports LabVIEW 7.1 is DAQmx 8.9. This is also stated in the readme for 8.9.5.

Your old version disappeared because you installed over it. Since DAQmx can be used with various programming languages, not sure how the installer would know not to go ahead and run as instructed.

It could detect that LabVIEW 7.1 is present, and issue warning that previous DAQmx components for LabVIEW 7.1 would be removed, and All of DAQmx wouldn't be available to LabVIEW 7.1

LabVIEW 7.1 is NI product. Is it so difficult to detect its presences and warn users against possible removal of DAQmx functionality for LabVIEW 7.1 if the installation were to proceed?

It's really a matter of practicality. How far back should NI be doing this detection? LabVIEW 7? 6.1? 6? 5.1? 4?

As Dennis noted, the Readme/Release Notes explicitly indicate what software versions are supported, so it's partly the responsibility of the person installing the software to make sure it works with whatever software they may have installed.

It's fine if the newer DAQmx version doesn't support 7.1, and user got to check this.

The problem is, the newer version of DAQmx Removed the old version components that was supporting LabVIEW 7.1

When you install LabVIEW 8 on the system, it will not remove LabVIEW 7.

So it is Not natural to expect that DAQmx 8.95 will remove DAQmx 8.8 support for LabVIEW 7.1, if the product never give any warning.

It is not natural that newer version of a product will make the product unusable.
