Hey,
We are trying to send the signal to MOV's by using NI9263. Signal range is between 0-10V. 0 being fully closed and 10 being fully open. When we send a signal to MOV, We were able to open the MOV till the time we sent a 4.5V signal after that it didnt open and remained in the same position.
We tried opening the MOV using a 9V batterey and it worked and it worked fine. It almost opened completly.
We then checked the signal coming out of the output module using a multi meter. It showed correct value for all the voltage signals.
Why is it not opening all the way when we send a 10V signal directly to the MOV using the NI9263 module?
Thank you

Hi cmehta,
One thing to check is the current requirement for the MOV. The NI-9263 drives a maximum of +/-1 mA per channel, which might not be enough for the MOV. Is this something you have looked at?

Well we had asked NI support about this MOV and which module will help us in sending the signal to MOV. He said that NI9263 is the best for us.
our MOV would certainly not run at 1mA. It requires a signal between 4 to 20mA.
as far as NI9263 goes, I just checked it's manual and it says "±10 V and 0 to 20 mA analog output ranges, 16-bit resolution, 100 kS/s simultaneous update rate". This means it should work for our MOV. Am I missing something here?

Hi cmehta,
It sounds like you are referring to the current specs for the NI 9265, not the NI 9263. The 9263 manual can be found here:
https://www.ni.com/docs/en-US/bundle/ni-9263-getting-started/page/overview.html
That being said, some MOVs can be configured to accept either a voltage input or a current input. If you are using a 9263, you should have yours configured to accept a voltage. Can you confirm that the MOV is configured properly?
