Long way: write a vi with vi-server vis: open a reverence to the vi and stop it

Try this old trick: Open a blank vi. Insert your vi . Now, you can open it in edit mode.

Thanks to both of you for reply it worked very well. However I tried another non-professional trick too to get it back to edit mode by removeing one of the sub-vi i had in the same folder which consequently generated errors forcing it to go into edit mode.
