I am using a DAQpad 6020E and Labview 7.1. Unfortunately, I am completely lost on how to proceed. I have been able to find and even take test measurements from the DAQpad using MAX, but MAX also indicates that the 6020E is a Legacy device. From my research on this site and other forums, I know that Legacy devices will not work with the NIDAQ.mx software that comes with Labview 7.1 and other more recent hardware and software. However, that is about all the information that I can find. Clearly people have been and are able to use Legacy devices, but I can't find any sources that have any instructions, tutorials, or tips whatsoever. Everywhere I look the answer seems to be "upgrade to the newer mx software." As much as I would love to do that, I may not be able to.
So how can you take data from a DAQpad 6020E using Labview 7.1 without using DAQassistant? Any links to tutorials, instructions, manuals, or any other sources with this information would be greatly appreciated. I think once I am able to take the data I will be able to use the other VIs to do what I need to do, I just need to know how to get the data from the 6020E into Labview.

When I download the newest Traditional DAQ driver (7.4.4), it goes through the process but then says that nothing will be added or removed. I can only assume this means that I already have the driver on my computer. I go to "help">"Find examples" and I can only find a Traditional DAQ folder under the "Hardware Input and Output" folder. Inside the "Traditional DAQ" folder there is only one folder, "Analog IO" and in that folder there are only 3 examples: Hardware-in-the-loop, Read Realtime Clock, Synchronized DAQ.
So where else should I look for other examples? Or am I missing something? Also, once I have an example up, all I can see is the front panel, I don't see any block diagrams with it. Am I supposed to be able to change things, or does the example supposed to be the solution in and of itself?

I am using Windows XP sp3. As far as I know, I am using the standard 6020e, with analog inputs and outputs, among others in the 68 or so pins that it has. Is there a way to build a VI similar to the DAQassistant? I believe I understand how to set up the block diagrams, and I can do it with the simulated signal, but I need to be able to bring the data from the DAQpad into the diagram.
So where else might I look for examples? More importantly, if I do find examples, what do I do with them? Are they supposed to just be the solution by themselves, do I have to edit them, or do I have to try to recreate them in order to get something usable?

Besides the example folder, I really don't know where else you can look. I have not had any in a long time since my os is not compatible.
You did not answer my question about the traditional DAQ palette. Anything under Measurement I/O? Several of the functions there are actually VIs. How much, if any, modification would depend on your application.

I'm sorry, I didn't understand your question about the palette. When you say palette, are you referring to some sort of menu or toolbar specifically for Legacy devices? If so then no I have not been able to find one, and if there is supposed to be one that would explain why I am having so much difficulty. I am currently looking again to see if I can find any. Where might they be?

I believe I have resolved the problem. Both my palette view and my examples view were set to "Express." When I changed them to "Advanced" (or "Directory view" for examples) I was able to find the Legacy options. I had seen screenshots of both of them, but I had never gotten them to appear for me because I didn't realize I had to select a different "view" setting.
Thanks for your help.
