Properties window will not appear

When I right-click on an object in either the front panel or the block diagram and select "Properties" the window does not appear. The first time I do it the system displayes the hourglass cursor for about 10sec and then it goes away with nothing resulting. Everytime there after the hourglass doesnt even show up. Any Ideas?

On your tool bar, right click on "Operate" and see if it is set to Edit mode or Run mode. If it is run mode it won't show the properties. Alternately you can do a "Ctrl+M" (control button and the M key together) which switches modes, but I would look first, just to see.

My best guess would be that the VI that is the Properties dialog has been corrupted somehow. Look under "LabVIEW 7.1\resource\PropertyPages" and you should have a couple .llb's there that actually contain all the property dialog VIs.

Try dropping in the LabVIEW installation CD and select "Repair" when you get the choice. This will attempt to to fix anything that's been messed up since the initial install.

Using the Abort button to stop your VI is like using a tree to stop your car. It works, but there may be consequences.

I have tried to "repair" the installation but as I start to run the installer I never get the opportunity to "repair" all it wants to do is sntall the device drivers. Any ideas? Do I have to uninstall Labview and then reinstall it?

Try it this way.

Open the Control Panel and then the "Add/Remove Programs".
Scroll down to "National Instruments Software", select that and hit the 'Change' button.
In the dialog that opens, look for your "LabVIEW 7.x" entry, select that and hit the 'Repair' button.

You'll probably need your installation CDs on hand.
