Question on using a ni daq device

I’m thinking about using a USB6008 daq that we purchased a couple of years ago, and never used, for measuring data from a Shimpo DFS-100 force gauge.

There are two analog outputs that I’m interested in, force which outputs 0.01V/lb (total range is 0 to 100 lbs or 0 to 1 volt). The other output that I want to measure is distance that the force gauge travels which is 0.1V/inch. Given that the range of the USB6008 is 0 to +10 volts what is the best way to handle the scale differences? Should this be handled somehow in the setup or in the Labview software?

Thank you.

When you set up this channel, if done properly, you will give the system the scale and the rage for the device that you are using. Max will automatically adjust this using gains inside the hardware to properly adjust you to the correct gain for the device that you are using.

If you set up a global virtual channel in DaqMX you will see what I am talking about. You need to set up the channel then add a scale to it to adjust it for the device that you want to measure. If you changes the scale and go back to change the range it should be close to what you are trying to do.

You can also buy seperate signal conditioners that give you a 0-10Vdc output.
