RC CIRCUIT

HI ALL

I AM USING USB 6008 DAQ WITH e-PAL AND HAVE PATCH AN RC CIRCUIT ON IT. I ALSO HAVE GOT THE CHARGING AND DISCHARGING GRAPH OF THE CAPACITOR NOW WHAT I WANT TO DO IS USE VALUES FROM THIS GRAPH TO FIND THE VALUE OF THE RESISTANCE AND CAPACITOR. I HAVE THE TIME CONSTANT AND THE SETTLING TIME. NOW HOW CAN I MEASURE THE CURRENT AND THE CHARGE Q ON THE CAPACITOR? BECAUSE IF I CAN FIND Q AND CURRENT, I CAN USE THESE EQUATIONS(SEE ATTACHMENT) TO GET THE VALUES.

First of all you should not eat or drink then working with your computer. The keys can get sticky like your "Caps Lock" key is now. I also remember that one of first lab assignment was to explore the charge and discharge curve of a capacitor, and find the capacitor value by graphical analysis. So yes it is doable. And I also think your teacher is the nearest person to ask. I guess no one in this forum are willing to do the homework for you. At least should give a much better description of your problem. Tell us exaxctly what you have done so far, where you struggle and why. Now it seams more likly that you are fishing for an easy way out for your homework.

Hello,

This forum is generally for customers having problems using National Instruments products.   It sounds like you were able to plot the data and determine the time constants and settling times. Is this an accurate statement?  Are you currently having problems acquiring the data from the USB -6008? Are you having problems implementing/solving these equations in one of our softwares like LabVIEW or SignalExpress?  If so don't hesitate to post again and let us know exactly what you are having problems with and how we can help you.

This is funny. For this simple question a NI Applications Engineer jumps into action. But for my Touch panel CE question in this old thread http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&thread.id=364231 it has been completely silence. We there planning to by the "touch panel module" but we did not  because of the problem with windows CE 6.0. We there planning some to take some CE jobs but dropped it since our costumers demand CE 6.0 and we felt we could not satisfy their demands, or even worse the projects could end up like getting stuck in a quagmire. You can move but this will only cause you to sink even deeper
