RS-485 Comm between cRIO and host?

Hi,

We want to connect our cRIO to our host-PC on a distance of about 200m.

Ethernet supports max. 100m. So is there a way to use RS-485 communication,

which allows for larger distances?

Or do you have other suggestions?

NI sells a cRIO module with RS232 and RS485 interfaces…

do you have other suggestions?

Use a repeater for your LAN connection!

Or use glass fibers…

Regarding the Rs485 cRIO module : Can this module also be used to do the host communication instead of the onboard ethernet NIC?

it's a RS485 interface and YOU can do any communication you like to - even with your host running YOUR VI receiving data from your cRIO…

What exactly do you understand by "host communication"?
