Really? I can't believe, that this VI shut down your PC. Look on the block diagramm. It's realy easy programmed. Nothing, what can make something bad for your PC.

Something overflows and causes the PC to shut down.

I had made it (the shut down), in the past, in one of my programs, in a similar case.

-The "Open Interface" works in reverse, or i misunderstand the icon?

-The autosend should really go away. The thing you trying to do, can be done by selecting the "update while typing" at the "command", and writing aditional code. (I think this was responsible for the shut down.)

-There is no way to send a carriage return.

-A very nice thought is to replace the "Answer" with a table, and paint blue the transmiteed data, and red the incoming. It needs aditional coding too.

Hi Eugen,

I have already used and customized your CAN terminal for some applications. This tool is very useful and well coded, making modifications easy. Therefore I'm expecting the RS232 terminal to be another great tool and I'm quite impatient to have a look at it. Please update the link.

Many thanks

Unless I'm misunderstanding your question, this can be done very easily with property nodes. See attached example.
