Hi Bill,

In the thread of messages I am not sure who your comment is directed to (regarding using LabVIEW Community on company computers).

If this is directed to me, I do not know what lead you to believe I am using company computers. In my opinion, you are drawing unfounded conclusions much too quickly; this is a dangerous assumption, this can lead to incorrect actions and decisions, this is biaised thinking.

So, if this is directed at me, please refrain from making unfounded accusations.

If this is not directed at me, fine. Make sure you say who you are talking to.

A "dangerous" assumption.  Just a little hyperbole, right?  What actions and decisions could I possibly make that would be dangerous?  My assertion that this was probably a company computer comes from the fact that the vast majority of personal computers are connected to the internet because a personal computer is essentially useless without a connection to the outside world.  On the other hand, the vast majority of computers that need to stay off the internet for security reasons are company computers.  That is where my assertion comes from.  If that is not the case, then it is truly a corner case and, though I may be wrong, I won't apologize for it.

Hi Billko,

The comment is interesting but not correct.

The real setup is this:
- LabVIEW 2020 SP1 Community and Win7 machine: perfect installation and successful activation with a brief temporary connection to internet (and avoid virus attacks).

- LabVIEW 2020 SP1 Community on Win10 laptop, permanently connected to internet,... fails at installation of Rabbitmq support.

😉

Given that these are different computers, it is wrong to blame it on LabVIEW.

Perhaps something needed by Rabbitmq is already installed on the Windows 7 PC that is not on the Windows 10 laptop.

I would also remove all LabVIEW from the Windows 10 PC and then do an installation with the Windows 10 PC disconnected from the internet just as you did with the Windows 7 PC.

I would assume you already have RabbitMQ with a higher version installed, that you got with some other program. That happened to me. 🙂

Uninstall the other Rabbit and this will work, then you can upgrade it if you need to.

Hi, pseudonym

It has never been my idea to blame LabVIEW. I assume that some settings are incorrect my one of my PCs and I out of ideas of blockage it could be. I tend to block anything I fear could lead to virus infection due to past bad experience.

I unblock all I could think of including disabling the firewall but to no avail.

Sorry if it sounded like blaming LabVIEW, I was just looking for a compromise by not installing what my computer was blocking.

I wish everything goes well for you

Hi Yamaeda,

Thanks for taking the time to try and help. I am a retired electronic engineer who have used NI products for many years. I have always loved to tinker with generations of processors. I own a Mindstorms box, a MyDAQ unit and a MyRIO unit. Now retired, I have turned to LabVIEW Community Edition to assist in the development of my fun projects (old MCUs, Arduino, IoT, Radio Control electronics,...) and I have encountered unexpected issues in installing the package.

My problem may be unique and may be unsolvable but before I give up I turned to the best of the best on this community blog.

I followed the instructions given by Anice: tried several times to uninstall all of LV2020SP1 (the only LabVIEW installed on this new laptop), deleting caches contents, removing anything related to 'RabbitMQ' and 'erlang'. The only thing that seems working was to unselect the 'WEBserver' installation.

However, I fear that I have not installed some good stuff for the future.

I trust your input, I am going to try again.

Thanks again for your help

Well, I guess it is time to close on a lengthy debate and report what can be a solution.

Firstly, although I got some good inputs from some of the constructive suggestions, none completely solved the problem.

The most complete is the one from Anise and the link provided.

I tried 2 Win10 computers (one with Factory-installed Win10 and one with Factory-installed Win7SP1 upgraded to Win10 when offered by Microsoft.) Both never had any LabVIEW product installed before installing LV2020SP1 Community Edition.

The installation on these computers was not identical. They both failed initially but I was able to complete the installation by unselecting the last piece of software in the list (Web server?).

I probably miss some features but I seems that I have at least what I need for the time being: LabVIEW 2020SP1, the Runtime Engine, The Hobbyist Kit, NI MAX, Serial, Ethernet, USB and hopefully MyDAQ, MyRIO, Arduino and ESP8266 interface blocks.

Like I said earlier, the heart of my hobby projects lie in a microcontroller (e.g. Arduino) and LabVIEW applications are created to perform I/O stimulation and data capture to test my projects.

As a side note to link to future topics, the NI License Manager and Package Manager installed on the 2 Win10 machines do not show the same information (what is installed and what is licensed).

Thanks for the positive comments.

End of subject
