Reading Wavelength above 1000 nm

We have a new filter in our monochrometer which allows us to use wavelengths above 1000 nm.  When we attempt this on our LabVIEW program, it reads fine up until 1000 nm and then it reads 0 for the wavelength at least half the time.  When we set the "count" in the "receive" diagram to 9, it reads values below 1000 nm, and when we set the count to "10", it reads above 1000 but not below.  Is there any way to fix this problem?  It must have something to do with the string that we "read" from the machine.  Thank you for any help you can give.

We believe there might be a problem with the Wave? or Mono Read sub VIs.  We're not entirely sure in Mono Read what the "end" or "count" functions do, and why the program responds differently to counts of 9 or 10 (as I mentioned before).

Furthermore, our program which does not utilize the second filter (above 1000 nm) is now not working properly.  We're having a similar problem as the first program.  Something about the wavelength inputs isn't working, so our starting and ending wavelengths aren't working properly.  It seems that the program does not stop at the ending wavelength, therefore it tries to go over 1000 nm (which this one isn't meant to do), at which point it reads a wavelength of 0.

Thanks for any help you can give.  We are somewhat new to LabView and are working mostly with programs that were made by last summer's researchers.  If you need any more information from me, I'd be happy to provide it!

Hi Julia,

Are you using some LabVIEW toolkit or just core LabVIEW? I tried to take  a look at your VIs but they all seem to be on Cornell College's network that I cannot access. Please post your VIs as attachments in this thread.

That's odd... those files should be accessible through the www.  They've been changing our servers, it's possible that those aren't fixed yet, I guess.  I tried to attach the VIs to this thread, but I'm being told that its extension is not valid for attachment.  We seem to have gotten things working for the one program, and the other one with the dual filter isn't really necessary for now.  I'll post again if we need any more help, and hopefully we'll actually be able to get the VIs online.  Thanks for trying, though!
