Reading and writing to TEDS using data that is not compliant with any of the IEEE 1451.4 templates

Is it possible to read and write data to a TEDS when the data is not compliant with any of the IEEE 1451.4 templates.  I know the format that a manufacturer has used to write to the EEPROM and it is definitely not in agreement with any of the IEEE templates.  I would ideally like to both read and write to the TEDS in this non-compliant format using Labview and NI hardware (NI 9237, NI 9234 and NI 9218).
