Reading shared Variant variable on Touch Panel

I am unable to read a shared variant variable on the TCP-2106.  I can read and write shared variables in the form of everyother type except a variant.  I do get an error code #1 with the source text "ni_tagger_lvpda_Read" on the TCP-2106.  I also double checked to make sure the code was related only to the touchpanel by reading it from PC to PC and there was no problem.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Dan

Hi Dan,

maybe "variant" is not supported for your Touch Panel device.

I searched all documents that I could find related to the touch panel module and could not find anything suggesting that there is a limitation that would not allow acess to the Variant shared variable type.  It would be unfortunate if it is not supported.

Thanks

Hello Dan,

I haven't come accross this before, let me try the same thing with our equipment and see if I get the same error.

Hello Dan,

I just wanted to let you know that I have filed a Corrective Action request for this issue. The Variant type shared variable is currently throws an error on the Touch Panel, but there is no documentation indicating that this is the correct behavior. Thank you for helping us uncover this issue!

Hello Dan,

I seem to be getting a different error that the one you mentioned, could you post a copy of your code or a screen shot? Which VI are you passing your Variant shared variable to? and what data type are you writing to the variable?
