Real & Complex IFFT VIs

Is there any detailed (mathematical) discussion of the difference between the Real & Complex IFFT VIs
available through NI? Although I expect the time-domain waveform to be purely real should one expect
the complex IFFT and real IFFT VIs to yield similar results in terms of magnitude?
(i.e. imaginary part negligible for a real time-domain signal). Also, are they any "quirks" in using
the IFFT VIs... for example I've seen a posting that the IFFT expects to see the full two-sided frequency
domain signal representation (with mirror-conjugated image in negative frequency range). Thanks
for your help!

The manual (analcon.pdf) indicates that the primary difference is the format of the input signals: real or complex.
