Recommended desktop PCs for LabVIEW RT

Does anyone know where the link to the list of desktop PCs, namely Dell's, that NI recommends for LabVIEW RT went? Most of the links that are posted in previous messages are broken, and I haven't had any luck searching the NI site.

Thanks,
Sima

Try starting with this link.

I searched on "ETS" to find this.

I'm actually looking for specific models. I know they used to be listed somewhere on the site.

Sima,

This forum post has people detail their success with several stock Dell PCs:

Also, this KnowledgeBase is slightly more up to date with desktop real-time information.

Best regards,

Thanks Sam. Our local NI rep told me that NI stopped posting an official list of recommended models because of the ever expanding options. I will take a look at what others have been using in that post, though.

National Instruments provides the following information when using
Labview Real-time with desktop PCs.

Using LabVIEW Real-Time for RTX Targets, you add a real-time component
to a variety of Windows PCs. With this option, an extension-based RTOS
runs on the PC processor, so the Windows user-interface and real-time
tasks can share the PC processor.

* Run Windows and real-time tasks on the same PC using a dual-
kernel RTOS
* Integrate analog and digital signals using NI reconfigurable I/O
PCI boards
* Requires Windows 2000/XP and LabVIEW Real-Time Module (RTX) for
Windows

To me this says you don't need a National Instruments approved Dell PC
to use Labview Real-Time for RTX targets. Just about any PC of recent
vintage that can run Windows XP can be used to run Labview real-Time
for RTX targets.

UP date, National Instruments has a Web Page titled "How Can I
Validate That My PC Will Run RTX?" There is a link on that page to
evaluation software that is intended to verify if your PC can run the
RTX extensions. However, When I followed the link I could not find
any evaluation software. Furthermore the "How Can I Validate That My
PC Will Run RTX?" page on National Instruments Web Site was last
updated 11/12/2004. Hence it is not surprising you could not find a
list of Dell approved PCs for running RTX

Yeah, I know. We've got a few custom build computers which fit the requirements that NI has set, but we've been having a few problems and I know they used to have that list online a while back, so I just wanted to compare at least previously supported computers with the ones we have.

Thanks anyway.

Sima,

We have built a custom computer from scratch, that is compliant with National Instrument's Real-Time Operating System and it's corresponding hardware that we use, that we built not too long ago (within the past couple months).  We went round and round on trying to find parts that would work and we finally did it.  So if you would like some more detailed help you can contact me.  I have talked with R&D about why they don't have a list, and as someone stated earlier in this post, they can not keep up with the ever-changing computer configurations that companies provide within a certain model type.  I hope this helps a little and I can further assist you.  Thank you.
