Recording times of digital wave

I am trying to establish the angle from a simulated crank sensor signal from a car. A toothed wheel (12 - 3 teeth) is mounted on the crankshaft with a varible reluctance sensor. As the wheel spins around an AC sinusoidal wave is produced as the teeth pass and then a flat spot is produced where the gap is.

I have converted this wave into a digital waveform that rises everytime the tooth passes and soon returns to 0. I thought the next stage in calculating the angle is to locate the first tooth after the gap. I thought this could be done by comparing periods between teeth and when the big period is detected the gap has been found.

i have been trying all night to find some way of recording times between gaps and comparing them but have not succeeded.

Any help or nudges would be appreciated as i only started using labview a few days ago.
