It's better to create a new topic for a new question. It's more unlikely for board users to find your new question at the end of a long, 10 year(!) old thread than when you create a new thread.
Regarding your question: LabVIEW has a shipped example that might help you a bit more on getting more insights about serial communication in LabVIEW. Go to menu "Help » Find Examples » Browser » Task » Hardware Input and Output » Serial" and open "Simple Serial.vi". That shows the general chain of commands needed for serial communication. "Continuous Serial Write and Read.vi" has some more detail.
